Woman admits impaired driving

A woman who crashed her car in Devonshire could be sentenced in Magistrates’ Court next month.

Gaiya Melakot, 22, admitted driving while impaired by alcohol when she appeared in court yesterday.

The court heard that Melakot, from Warwick, was taken to the Hamilton Police Station after she crashed into a wall near Christ Church Devonshire in February.

Magistrate Tyrone Chin ordered mental health drug reports be written for Melakot, adjourned the case to May 7 and extended her bail until that time.
