Man, 23, pleads guilty to obstructing police officer
A 23-year-old man became aggressive towards police and got into an altercation with officers after being handcuffed, a court heard.
Zachary Foley, from Paget, pleaded guilty yesterday to obstructing a reserve police inspector when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court.
The court heard that on Saturday police responded to an incident near Coconut Rock on Reid Street, Hamilton.
Foley was intoxicated and aggressive towards officers at the scene, telling them “f*** the police and f*** you.”
He then pulled away from one while he was being handcuffed, resulting in an altercation.
Officers eventually calmed him down and took him to Hamilton Police Station.
Senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson ordered that court staff write a social inquiry report for Foley and adjourned the case until June 5 for sentencing.
