Cup Match icons honoured with awards

Our picture at top shows the Cup Match icons singled out for the 2010 Emancipation Awards for their roles in the years they played in the Cup Match. Awarded were Wilbur (Bull Cat) Pitcher, Anthony Trott, George (Brutus) Foggo, Cleveland (Clevie) Foggo, all of whom played for St.George's; and for Somerset, Herman (Butch) Smith, Willard Raynor, Gladwin (Dewey) Trott and Reginald Tucker.

Nearest to the camera is president of Somerset C.C. Richard Scott and at the far end, Neil Paynter, president of St. George's C.C.

Special honours went to Janet (Pinky) Todd for contributing her critical and analytical skills for many years as the Bermuda Broadcasting Company's Cup Match broadcast team scorer. Pinky is also distinguished as a certified and experienced Umpire.

She has been trained, and passed written examinations by the former Bermuda Association of Cricket Umpires and Scorers, as well as examinations by the West Indian Cricket Umpires Association.

Heritage Luncheon Producers are from the right, Dr. Radell Tankard with his wife Dr. Mellisa Gibbons-Tankard; Cromwell Shakir; Charlotte (Molly) Burgess, who with Dr. Mellisa profiled the awardees; and the Hon. Neletha Butterfield, Minister of Culture, who presented the awardees with their inscribed plaques.
