Bermuda fell victim to the biggest defeat in World Cup history after being put to the sword by a resurgent India at the Queen's Park Oval earlier today.

Irving Romaine won the toss and elected to bowl in the morning, a decision that looked to be vindicated when debutant Malachi Jones took a wicket with his very first World Cup ball. But after that the Indian batsmen took charge, with the under-pressure Virenda Sehwag delivering a spectacular 114. Opener Saurav Ganguly contributed 89 while down the order Yuvraj Singh (83) and Sachin Tendulkar (56 not out) tore Bermuda's bowling apart. India's 413 was the highest ever World Cup score.

In reply, Bermuda's batting shortcomings were exposed once again, though David Hemp at last got in the runs with a well-made 76 not out as the rest of the batsmen perished around him.
