Clubs in fight for Trott's services

Rodney Trott is in the middle of a tug of war between St George's and Bailey's Bay cricket clubs. The Social Club spinner is in high demand following his team's withdrawal from the Premier Division last week and the two clubs have already begun their attempts to woo Trott to their particular cause.“I am definitely trying to lure him to St George's as he is the missing piece to the puzzle,” said St George's coach Clay Smith. “But it's still early days right now. He obviously is getting pressure from Bay so it's just wait and see right now.”At a Bermuda Cricket Board meeting on Monday night it was decided that Social Club players would be allowed to move on loan to other clubs for the rest of the season, although there are conditions attached.“The Executive Committee have decided that there be a loan pool of all remaining Young Men Social Club players with the following stipulations,” the BCB said in a statement yesterday. “Players remain officially registered with YMSC, and any club requiring a player from the pool must negotiate with the player. Deadline for players in the pool to be registered with another club is July 15, 2011.”The committee also decided to award the remaining teams in the league 13 points for Social Club's outstanding fixtures. That means that a team such as St David's, who had yet to play Social Club, will get 26 points added to their total.Social Club's absence leaves PHC rooted to the bottom of the Premier Division, nine points adrift of Southampton Rangers, but with two teams still to go down this year, both are in a little bit of trouble.Devonshire Rec are third from bottom, but are 14 points clear of Rangers, a team they have already beaten once this season. PHC meanwhile have yet to win a game, and Sunday's match against St George's is going to be a tough one.Rangers travel to Bay and might fancy their chances against a side who have three wins this season, two of which came against Social Club before they pulled out of the league.
