Rodney Trott has signed for Bailey’s Bay for the rest of the season and goes straight into the team for the Eastern County Cup clash against Cleveland tomorrow. While the Bermuda Cricket Board are still waiting for the official paperwork, Bay skipper Stephen Outerbridge confirmed yesterday that Trott had opted to rejoin his home-town team. The in-demand Social Club skipper has been the subject of intense speculation since his side were forced to withdraw from the Premier Division last month. The BCB set a deadline of today for Social Club players to join other teams on loan for the rest of the season, and Trott’s services were much in demand, with St George’s and Bay both battling for his signature.St George’s skipper Clay Smith called Trott ‘the missing piece of the puzzle’, while Bay were understood to be actively chasing their former player.Trott himself had been unsure as to what he might do, even going so far as to suggest he might not play at all for the rest of the season. The spinner will play tomorrow in a Bay side that will be captained by Outerbridge and includes four colts, with Bay trio Lateef Trott, Kyle Hodsoll and Sinclair Smith all making their debuts, along with Western Stars’ Tre Manders.Manders has already had a taste of country cricket this season, playing for PHC in their Western County side.Bailey’s Bay: S Outerbridge, T Fray, I Romaine, Cal Dill, R Trott, S Smith, D Lovell, L Trott, T Manders, K Hodsoll, B Outerbridge.
