Bay fail to show up after Counties win

St David’s got back to winning ways in the domestic Twenty20 competition, while Bailey’s Bay’s Eastern Counties Cup hangover meant they couldn’t raise a team.In the East End, St David’s eased to a comfortable eight-wicket win over Cleveland, with Shae Pitcher scoring an unbeaten 23 and taking two wickets as they won with 6.4 overs to spare.Still dealing with the disappointment of their loss to Bailey’s Bay on Saturday, Cleveland were sent in to bat and despite a stubborn 41 from Glenn Blakeney and 21 from Makai Young, were bowled out for 109 in 18.4 overs.Justin Pitcher was the pick of the St David’s bowlers, taking three wickets for just six runs in four overs, while Shae Pitcher weighed in with two of his own.The home team made short work of the run chase, with Ajuan Lamb (38) and Delyone Borden (25) putting any hope of a Cleveland fightback beyond doubt. When they had departed, Landro Minors and Shae Pitcher picked up where Lamb and Borden left off as the defending champions reached 110 for two in less than an hour.In the first game of the day at Lords, there was a comfortable win for St George’s, who beat PHC by eight-wickets.Bowling first, St George’s skittled out PHC for just 108 runs with Rudell Pitcher bagging three wickets. Jason Anderson top-scored for his side with 23, with Delray Rawlins making a useful 16.In reply, St George’s made short work of knocking off reaching their target, eventually finishing on 114 for two, with Christian Burgess scoring an unbeaten 31.There was supposed to be a double-header at Somerset yesterday as well, but that fell by the wayside when Bay failed to turn up for their game against Leg Trappers.Bay skipper Stephen Outerbridge did manage to make it to the West End, still clutching the Eastern Counties Cup his side had won the previous day, but he was a lone figure. In the other match Somerset beat Flatts by 44 runs.Somerset made 178 for five in their 20 overs, while Flatts could only muster 134 for six in reply.
