Fubler ‘ashamed’ over rant at Simons

Kevon Fubler has issued a public apology to Somerset selector Molly Simons for some disparaging remarks he made about her two weeks ago.Fubler had blasted Simons on his Facebook page after he was left out of the challengers’ Cup Match squad last month, and was slapped with a lengthy ban by the club as a result. The Willow Cuts bowler used Facebook to make unreserved apology to Simons this weekend saying he felt ‘ashamed of my behaviour’ and calling what he had done a ‘terrible thing’.“Dear Ms Simmons (sic), I am writing this letter feeling ashamed of my behavior,” the apology reads.“I apologize for what I said about u on Facebook. That was a terrible thing that I did and you did not deserve to be disrespected like that.“Please know that what I wrote was said out of anger and I know that it is in no way truthful.“I also want you to know that I am not apologizing just because of the consequences place upon me because when I think about my actions I know that they were wrong.”Somerset are understood to have initially given Fubler a five year ban from the club, which would have prevented him from playing for Cuts for half the season, as they use Somerset as their home ground, and also ruled him out of Cup Match for the forseeable future. The First Division side however had not made the ban official because they were waiting to speak to Fubler last week, and it is possible the apology will have had some effect on the length of the suspension.Somerset officials had not responded to a request for comment by the time The Royal Gazette went to print last night.
