St. George’s, 154-5, beatSt. David’s, 153, by five wicketsTreadwell Gibbons Jr gave the St. George’s selectors an early nudge on Saturday when he stroked 87 not out to lead the Cup Match champions to victory in the Turkey Barnes Trophy game at St. David’s.With a number of players missing, including Lionel Cann who was playing in the Hiscox Celebrity match at the National Sports Centre, Gibbons seized his opportunity when he stroked eight fours and three sixes at the top of the order to lead his team to a comfortable victory.Allan Douglas, his Cleveland team-mate, was with him at the end with 23 not out as Loren Marshall led the St. David’s bowlers with two wickets for 20 runs.For St. David’s, McLaren Lowe and Rudell Pitcher both scored 26, with Pitcher unbeaten, while Arthur Pitcher added 23. Allan Douglas claimed four for 12 off 6.1 overs to lead the St. Geroge’s bowling while Ben Phipps, who shared the new ball with Dave Bedard for St. George’s, supported with three for 26 off six overs. Bedard claimed one for 30 off 10 overs.
