Taylor inspires USA to victory
By Derek de ChabertUSA, 366 for six, beat Nepal, 272 all out, by 94 runsSteven Taylor stroked a boundary-laden century for the USA innings to spearhead a convincing win over Nepal at Somerset Cricket Club.Taylor, along with fellow opener Orlando Baker (37), put on 125 runs for the first wicket stand before the latter was bowled.Taylor continued on without his opening partner, carving 12 fours and 12 sixes on his way to a tournament high 162 before being caught and bowled by Basant Regmi as the USA reached a scorching total of 366 for six.Basant Regmi was the top wicket taker for Nepal, snatching two wickets.In reply, captain Paras Khadka scored 73 that included nine fours and two sixes although it wasn’t enough to get his side over the line.Sharad Vesawkar (72) also added contributing runs, helping himself to four fours and six sixes.Neil McGarrell took three wickets, while Muhammad Asad Ghous and Elmore Hutchinson grabbed two wickets apiece for the USA.Oman, 112 for three, beat Italy, 110 all out, by seven wicketsOman made quick work of their match against Italy at Lords in St David’s thanks in large part to Aamir Kaleem.Kaleem manufactured four wickets to leave the Europeans in a world of bother, while Munis Ansari and Hemal Mehta both grabbed two wickets each in restricting the Italians to a gettable total.Peter Petricola (21) and Dilan Arsakulasuriya (22) were the high men for Italy in the batting department.In reply, skipper Vaibhav Wategaonkar (31 not out) and Jatinder Singh (18 not out) guided Oman to the comfortable win.
