BCB silent on decision to ‘cut off’ reporter
Bermuda Cricket Board today reiterated their decision not to communicate with Royal Gazette senior sports reporter Colin Thompson, despite requests to outline their reasons.
BCB Chief Executive Officer Neil Speight was asked what prompted the Board’s decision and why specific reasons had not been cited.
In an earlier e-mail today Speight said: “When/if this decision is ever amended the Royal Gazette will be notified.”
In an e-mail sent to Thompson on Monday, Speight said : “The Executive had resolved that the BCB will not communicate with you.
“Please stop e-mailing (president) Lloyd (Fray) or myself as you will not get a response.”
Thompson has written a number of stories regarding cricket’s governing body and controversial decisions they have made.
He revealed that Janeiro Tucker would be selected captain for the squad which travels to Dubai for the Twenty20 World Cup Qualifiers next month before the official announcement.
He also reported that regular national team captain Stephen Outerbridge had been informed by text he was no longer captain of Bermuda’s Twenty20 squad.
In recent weeks he has also asked the BCB to comment on national team cricketers who continue to play football ahead of next month’s tournament without response.
