Southampton Rangers and Willow Cuts advanced to the Lindo’s T20 semi-finals with contrasting victories on Saturday at Lord’s.

Cuts dethroned the defending champions St David’s by three wickets and Rangers dismissed Bailey’s Bay for just 34 in 11.2 overs on their way to a five-wicket win.

St David’s posted 146 for five from 20 overs after winning the toss in the first semi-final and had Cuts 115 for five before Ricardo Brangman, their top scorer with 43, hit 16 off the penultimate over from Justin Pitcher.

He and Chris Douglas, who scored 39, carried Cuts from 56 for three to 113 when Douglas was trapped lbw by Pitcher. Cuts won the match with one ball remaining.

Earlier in the Cuts innings, captain Malachi Jones scored 34 as he and Sheroy Fubler put on 47 for the first wicket.

Kevin Hurdle claimed two for 24 for St David’s.

St David’s also had a good start to their innings with OJ Pitcher and Fiqre Crockwell, their captain and wicketkeeper, sharing in an opening stand of 43 before Cuts pegged them back to 56 for three.

Loren Marshall and Kevin Hurdle had valuable knocks late in the innings to push St David’s to a challenging total.

Marshall scored 35 before he was run out by Jamal Smith to make it 106 for four. Hurdle departed on 134 for five for 25, caught and bowled by Deunte Darrell, who finished with two for 20.

Bailey’s Bay’s innings was torn apart by the Rangers bowlers, with only coach Irving Romaine reaching double figures. Spinner Vernon Eve claimed four for five.

Dion Stovell took two for four and Derrick Brangman claimed two for seven.

After Stovell was dismissed for a duck, Rangers were in early trouble at four for four with Alex Dore, Janeiro Tucker and Shannon Rayner all back in the pavilion.

Derrick Brangman, who scored 15, and Gerald Simons, who added 9 not out, carried Rangers to their modest target in 13.5 overs.

Kyle Hodsoll took three for seven but once his spell ended, Rangers found the other Bay bowlers easier to handle.
