Burgess and Rawlins in ICC combine squad
Christian Burgess and Delray Rawlins have been named in the initial squad for the ICC Americas combine in September.
The pair will join players from Canada, United States and Surinam all trying to make the squad that will compete in the West Indies Cricket Board’s Nagico Super 50 tournament in January.
So far 21 players have been selected for the second phase of the combine, which runs from September 24 to 27 in Indianapolis.
The squad was selected following consultation with Associate and Affiliate Members in the ICC Americas Region, with strong consideration given to performances during the ICC Americas Division One held in May, and the recently completed ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier in Ireland and Scotland.
The selection process was coordinated by Tom Evans, the ICC Americas high performance consultant, together with Richard Done, the ICC high performance manager.
“There are plenty of talented players in the Americas Region, therefore this selection process was certainly challenging,” Evans said.
Those players that were not selected for the second phase, can still compete to be added to the squad during the first phase of the combine from September 18 to 21.
ICC officials are presently assessing several hundred applications from players across the region hoping to attend the combine, and are expected to reveal who has been invited to attend in the coming weeks.
