BCB Under-16s record first win in UK

The Bermuda National Academy Under-13 team which lost to Spencer by 106 runs on Thursday.

The Bermuda Cricket Board National Academy Under-16 team picked up their first win on the tour of England on Thursday when they beat Watford Cricket Club by nine wickets.

Watford posted 113 in 30.5 overs after captain Jade Morrissey won the toss and asked them to bat. Morrissey then led the Bermuda run chase with 51 not out after sharing in an opening stand of 80 with Kristian Singh (27). Morrissey and Nzari Paynter (20 not out) then scored the remaining 34 runs for victory which came in 28.2 overs. Morrissey stroked seven fours in his 102 minutes at the crease, facing 79 balls.

Earlier, Paynter helped restrict Watford to 113 by taking three for 18 off six overs of spin while another spinner, Cameron Jeffers, had figures of three for 37 from 7.5 overs. Opening bowler Dalin Richardson had a good spell, going for just nine runs in his five overs and taking one wicket.

Rohan Dai (28) and opener Adam Allaway (24) were the top scorers for Watford who slumped from 61 for three.

Meanwhile, the Under-13s crashed to a 106-run loss to Spencer at Bedes School field. Spencer posted 168 in 36.5 overs after winning the toss as opener Jeffer Kazmi scored 55 before retiring. He hit nine fours from 62 balls, while Dan Car-Hill, batting at No 4, hit five fours in a 19-ball knock of 26. Opener Nirobi Mills claimed two for 15 from 6.5 overs while Jomar Stovell had two for 30.

The Under-13s were all out for 62 despite an opening stand of 40 between Ariana Dowse (14) and Marcus Scotland (24). No other players reached double figures as Bermuda lost ten wickets in the space of 22 runs between the ninth and 23rd overs. Sami Sindhu, a slow left-armer, had astonishing figures of four for two runs from six overs with five maidens, while Felix Archer claimed three for ten off five overs before off-break bowler Ismail Sindhul took the last two wickets to finish with two for three runs in 2.4 overs.
