Kamau Leverock produced a solid all-round display in Bermuda’s comfortable four-wicket win over Cayman Islands in a 40-over practice match in Buenos Aires, Argentina, today.

The all-rounder claimed a wicket and ran out Cayman captain Ramon Sealy before leading the run chase with an aggressive half-century at the Belgrano Ground.

Bermuda dismissed the Caymans for 149 and then replied with 150 for six.

It was Bermuda’s second straight win over Cayman, having beaten them 24 hours earlier to win the ICC World Twenty20 Sub Regional Qualifiers.

After a delayed start that resulted in the loss of ten overs, the Caymans found themselves wobbling at 64 for four in the thirteenth over.

A 42-run fifth-wicket partnership between Omar Willis and Gregory Smith added stability to the innings. But once Kwasi James made the breakthrough to remove Smith, Cayman lost wickets at regular intervals.

James was among a trio of Bermuda bowlers taking two wickets that included Janeiro Tucker and Jacobi Robinson.

Leverock and Terryn Fray, the Bermuda captain, got the team’s reply off to a flying start by producing a 100-run opening partnership.

Leverock hit eight boundaries and three sixes in a top knock of 68 from 41, while Fray struck three boundaries in an innings of 33 from 47 balls.

Macai Simmons, the remaining Bermuda batsman in double figures, chipped in with an unbeaten 22 from 25 deliveries and along with Charles Trott carried their team over the line with 93 balls to spare.

Alessandro Morris, the Cayman off spinner, took five for 20.
