Southampton Rangers have picked up eight signings in the first transfer period, while promoted St George’s Cricket Club have been boosted by four signings in preparation for the upcoming campaign.

The official list released yesterday by the Bermuda Cricket Board confirms 20 players have obtained transfers, with Malachi Jones and Nirobi Mills — not team-mate Nyhrobi Carmichael as reported yesterday — joining from Bailey’s Bay.

Najiyah Raynor, a wicketkeeper-batsman who made his Eastern Counties debut for Cleveland County last season, has also moved to Rangers. He will be joined at Southampton Oval by another talented youngster, Charles Trott, who moves from First Division PHC.

Dion Stovell, last season’s MVP, and Shannon Raynor are returning to Rangers from St David’s while Tre Manders joins from Western Stars and Sheldon Caesar from Warwick, giving Rangers a tremendous boost ahead of the new season.

Former Stars pair Treadwell Gibbons Jr and Temiko Wilson are on the move again, leaving relegated Cleveland to join St George’s. The pair were late transfers from Western Stars to Cleveland last season. The east enders have also been boosted by the return of Oronde Bascome, a former captain, who rejoins from St David’s. Dean Simons, a young seamer who was on loan to St George’s from St David’s last season, has made a permanent move to Wellington Oval.

The season kicks off in two weeks time with Open cricket on the weekend of April 21 and 22.
