Rawlins named in Sussex squad
Bermuda all-rounder Delray Rawlins has been named in Sussex’s 14-man squad as they begin their Royal London One-Day Cup campaign at home today to Kent Spitfires at the 1st Central County Ground.
Jason Gillespie, the head coach of the Sussex Sharks, included Rawlins in the squad for the opening match along with Laurie Evans and Abi Sakande, all in contention for first-team action for the first time this season.
“The squad is in a very good place going into the one-dayers,” Gillespie told the Sussex website.
“We’ve prepared well for the tournament starting with the pre-season tour to South Africa and continuing over the last few weeks. The boys are clear on their individual objectives, as well as those of the team. We’ll be looking to enjoy the games and entertain the fans that come along to watch.”
Today’s match is the first of four home matches in the one-day competition for the Sharks, who play Hampshire on Saturday and Middlesex next Friday, also at the 1st Century County Ground, before hosting Essex at Eastbourne on June 3.
