Rawlins in action against Gloucestershire
Delray Rawlins is in the Sussex team that began their four-day Specsavers County Championship match against Gloucestershire at the Bristol County Ground today.
Gloucester, second in Division Two, were dismissed for 200 in 77.5 overs, with Chris Jordan taking three for 49 and David Wiese and George Garton two wickets each after Sussex won the toss.
Rawlins bowled four overs, conceding 16 runs and with his slow left-arm. He held a catch at gully off Gorton’s bowling to dismiss Miles Hammond for 16 after he top edged his pull shot.
Opener James Bracey led the Gloucestershire batting with 61 off 123 balls, the 22-year-old dominating an opening stand of 48 with Chris Dent, as he went on to reach his fourth Championship 50 of the season, pulling Rawlins to mid-wicket as Gloucestershire reached lunch at 86 for two.
Sussex replied with 73 without loss in 16 overs before the close to trail by 127 runs.
Philip Salt dominated the stand, scoring 53 not out off 60 balls, including hitting four successive boundaries off West Indies pace bowler Shannon Gabriel in the penultimate over to reach his half-century off 56 balls.
Luke Wells supported with six not out at the other end.
