Renegades make it five in a row

Unbeaten Renegades edged clear of their rivals at the top of the Evening Cricket League with a brace of victories.

They beat De Wicketest by 13 runs and added a fifth success when they defeated Fine Leg Byes by 27 runs.

It was the first of three reverses for Fine Leg Byes in the space of five days at Shelly Bay.

BCB Academy and The Associates also maintained their 100 per cent start to the season, which was delayed by the coronavirus pandemic, but both have played a game less than Renegades.

The Academy — the only team to defeat defending champions Tuff Dogs so far — beat struggling West XI by seven wickets, while The Associates defeated last season’s second-tier champions CV Chargers by seven wickets and followed it up by thrashing Fine Leg Byes by nine wickets, opener Alex Brown leading the way with an unbeaten 52.

Tuff Dogs stayed on the leading trio’s tails by handing Fine Leg Byes another nine-wicket hammering.

PHC remain fifth with two victories while High Flyaz round out the top six — who are expected to qualify for the season-ending knockout — by beating bottom club KPMG by default.

Eleven teams are competing in one division this season, rather than the usual two, after St George’s, North Village and Bad Byes pulled out.
