Allan Douglas and Dominic Sabir named BCB players of the week
Allan Douglas Jr, of St George’s, and Dominic Sabir, of Warwick, were voted the Premier Division and First Division players of the week during the last round of Twenty20 League matches on July 25.
Douglas claimed two for 17 from four overs as Willow Cuts scored 122 for seven at Wellington Oval. He then smashed 69 not out, including five sixes and seven fours, as St George’s won by nine wickets.
Sabir was equally impressive with the bat in Warwick’s win over Somerset Bridge at Southampton Oval in a First Division match, scoring 86 not out in a total of 165 for one. He and captain Staphen Dill (63) put on 137 for the first wicket, with Bridge then restricted to 113 for four in their 20 overs.
League action resumes on Sunday with Southampton Rangers and Bailey’s Bay leading the Premier Division standings with 40 points each, although Rangers are still unbeaten and with a game in hand. They also have a superior net run-rate.
In the First Division, Western Stars are level on 30 points with Warwick and PHC, but lead on net run-rate, with Cleveland and Flatts on 20 points. Cleveland have a game in hand.
Sunday’s action will see Cup Match clubs Somerset and St George’s renewing their rivalry after Cup Match with St George’s this time travelling to the West End. Rangers host St David’s at Southampton Oval while Bailey’s Bay take on bottom team Willow Cuts at Sea Breeze Oval.
Warwick meet PHC in the top First Division match at Southampton Oval while Western Stars play Cleveland at Sea Breeze Oval and Devonshire Rec play Somerset Bridge at Somerset Cricket Club.
