Youth cricket festival set for August 21

The Bermuda Cricket Board will hold its 2021 Youth Cricket Festival powered by Hiscox Bermuda on August 21 at the National Sports Centre.

The event, at the North Field facility, will be free to enter and include soft-ball cricket, a Super 8 tournament, skills and drills, awards and more.

The age groups and times are:

Pee Wee (5-7), Under 8: 10.30am to 11.30am

Under 11: Noon to 2pm

Under 13: 2.30pm to 5pm

Kellie Smith, the BCB vice-president and development chairwoman said: “After many uncertainties and the delay of our 2021 youth programmes, the BCB is delighted to host a youth event that encourages boys and girls of all skill levels to come out and enjoy a fun day of cricket.

“On behalf of the executive of the BCB, we wish to thank our sponsor, Hiscox, for continuously supporting our youth programmes as well as Barritt’s for providing water for players.”

The festival will be interactive, engaging, and safe — adhering to all Covid-19 guidelines and regulations. Parents are invited to set up their tents and chairs and spend the day.
