Delray Rawlins and Sussex face big Surrey test in Vitality Blast
Delray Rawlins has been included in the Sussex Sharks squad for upcoming Vitality Blast matches against Surrey at the Kia Oval today and Gloucestershire at the 1st Central County Ground on Friday.
Sussex will be aiming to get to winning ways and bounce back from 22-run defeat by Hampshire in which Rawlins (32) and overseas wicketkeeper-batsman Tim Seifert, who hit a spectacular century, were the only batsmen to reach double figures as the Sharks attempted to chase down a target of 200 at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton.
Before that, Sussex had been in spectacular form, claiming successive victories against defending champions Kent and undefeated sides in Somerset and Middlesex.
George Garton will not be available for selection and will be taking part in some focused rehabilitation sessions to aid his recovery from long Covid.
Luke Wright will also be rested after a slight ankle injury he picked up in the last run of games, while red-ball captain Tom Haines, who was considered for selection, will miss out because of a minor thigh injury and will focus on regaining fitness.
