Top T20 clubs will be in the money thanks to sponsor Athene Life Re
Six clubs will be in the money at the conclusion of the T20 league thanks to a $25,000 sponsorship deal reached with the insurer Athene Life Re for the six-week tournament, which starts this weekend.
Winners of the Premier Division will receive $2,500 while second-place finishers will get a cheque for $2,000 and third place $1,500.
First Division clubs are being rewarded for some good performances, too, with the league winners earning $2,000 while $1,500 and $1,000 respectively will go to the second and third-place teams.
“The BCB cricket committee are grateful for Athene Life Re’s generous sponsorship for the upcoming T20 competition,” said a BCB representative.
“Providing prize money for the top three winners will create a more competitive environment, as monetary incentives will benefit our member clubs and allow them to invest in their cricket programmes and communities.
“The cricket committee is dedicated to improving the domestic experience for players, spectators and officials so that we can continue to move cricket forward both locally and internationally.”
The Athene T20 Cricket League begins on Sunday with six 20-over matches at three venues, the double-headers starting at 11am with the First Division matches with the Premier Division matches following at 3pm.
