First Division Saturday: St David’s win top-of-table clash
St David’s beat fellow title and promotion contenders Willow Cuts by 35 runs in the Athene First Division T20 at Lord’s on Saturday.
Ajuan Lamb struck a whirlwind fifty and captain Justin Pitcher claimed two wickets to lead the charge as the visitors succumbed to their first defeat of the competition.
Opener Lamb blasted three sixes and six fours in an aggressive innings of 66 from 49 balls while Derrick Brangman added 30 as St David’s posted 139 for seven after electing to bat.
Cuts replied with 104 for eight, with Pitcher claiming two for 20.
Kwasi James led the Cuts batting with 45, while Kamal Bashir added 22 and Joseph Basden 14.
Antonio Darrell and Shaquille Bean has a wicket apiece for Cuts.
Elsewhere, Flatts beat PHC by 16 runs at Sea Breeze Oval.
Opener Jan-Johan Mel blasted 54 from 41 balls with four sixes and five fours, while Gond Swadesh added 19 as Flatts posted 146 for seven after being sent to bat.
Dajon Carey (16), Zack Morris (12) and wicketkeeper Cofield Robinson (12) were the remaining batters in double figures for the home side.
Kevin Lambe led PHC’s attack with four for 21.
The PHC captain also led his team’s unsuccessful run chase with a game-high 58 from 47 balls with four boundaries as they replied with 130 for eight.
Fellow opener Dionte Dowling added 22, Terron Webb 20 and Kaya Robinson 12.
PHC suffered a massive slide, which saw five wickets fall for nine runs before the overs expired.
Regino Smith claimed three for 21 and Carey three for 22 to lead the Flatts attack.
The remaining First Division encounter saw Somerset Bridge beat winless Devonshire by six wickets in a low-scoring affair at White Hill Field.
Devonshire were dismissed for 51 in 17.1 overs after being sent in, with only captain Rudell Pitcher (22) managing double figures.
Noel Woods was the pick of the Bridge bowling attack with three for 11, while fourth change Del Hollis took two for two.
Bridge lost four wickets in their reply before eventually getting safely across the line with 65 balls to spare, thanks to a 13-run stand between Neil Thakur, who led the chase with 14, and wicketkeeper Jason Smith, who chipped in six.
Shaquille Pitcher led the Devonshire attack with three for 15.
