Delray Rawlins goes unsigned in Hundred player draft
Bermuda captain Delray Rawlins went unsold in the player draft for this year’s Hundred tournament on Thursday.
After being assigned to inaugural champions Southern Brave in 2021 for a price tag of £40,000, Rawlins went undrafted in 2022 and this year was in the draft at an unreserved price.
However, he was not picked up among a total of 30 players drafted by the eight teams – Welsh Fire, Southern Brave, Northern Superchargers, Oval Invincibles, Birmingham Phoenix, London Spirit, Manchester Originals and Trent Rockets – each of whom had the option to retain up to ten players from their 2022 squads as well as their centrally-contracted England men's player.
Most teams did just that, except for Superchargers, who retained nine plus England Test captain Ben Stokes, and Fire, who have kept five plus the centrally-contracted Jonny Bairstow after a dismal 2022 in which they lost all eight of their matches.
Despite going undrafted, Rawlins could still be called up in the Wild-Card Draft in July after the T20 Blast when two additional players can be added by each franchise.
The Hundred begins on August 1, with defending champions Trent Rockets taking on Southern Brave at Trent Bridge, in Nottingham.
