It’s two for two as Warwick pick up another schools cricket trophy
More than 20 Primary Schools competed in the BSSF/BCB Boys Super 8 Cricket Tournament at the National Sports Centre on Tuesday.
The competition, which is sponsored all week by Markel Bermuda, was another success for Warwick Academy, who made it two wins in two days after they defeated West Pembroke Primary in the final.
West Pembroke were sent into bat and scored 54 runs in their allotted overs, with Asa Smith leading the way with 21 runs and Xavi Dill contributing 12.
Avik Shah was the star bowler for Warwick, claiming three wickets in a maiden over, while Freddie Jones took two wickets and gave up just one run in his over.
Warwick opener Lewis McFarlane scored an unbeaten 35 to lead Warwick to victory, with his innings including four sixes and two fours. Henrik McIntosh added seven runs in the unbeaten partnership.
Warwick had earlier defeated Harrington Sound Primary in the semi-final with the opening pair again chasing their target of 48 without loss.
McFarlane scored 21 and McIntosh 14 as they passed Harrington Sound in the fourth over. Mcaiz Trott led the Harrington Sound team with 10 and Sanaejz Signor added 8.
West Pembroke defeated Saltus Grammar School in their semi-final by just five runs.
West Pembroke scored 47 runs in the first innings behind 24 runs off the bat of Asa Smith and 12 from Azai Burt.
Saltus could score only 42 in reply with Luke Spencer leading his team with 11 runs.
