Disappointing defeat: Bermuda all-rounder Kamau Leverock could not help guide Florida Scorpions to the final of Unity Cup after suffering a 44-run defeat to Kingsmen.

Bermuda all-rounder Kamau Leverock could not help Florida Scorpions into the final of Unity Cup after his side suffered a 44-run defeat by Kingsmen in the final four of the competition.

Electing to bat, Kingsmen reached a total of 214 for seven from their allotted 20 overs, with Martin Guptill top scoring with a knock of 51. There was also solid contributions from Harmeet Singh (40), Sharjeel Khan (36) and Milind Kumar (33).

Leverock proved the pick of Scorpions’ bowling attack, taking two wickets for 26 run. Nawab Singh also impressed with the ball finishing with figures of two for 33, while Matthew Forde, Ashmead Nedd and captain Saad Bin Zafar also claimed a wicket apeice.

Leverock enjoyed far less success with the bat as he was dismissed for a duck, having faced just two balls.

Andre Fletcher (81) managed to stabilise the innings and was supported ably by Sherfane Rutherford (39), but with Gerhard Erasmus (19) the only other batter to reach double figures, Scorpions could muster only a total of 170 for 9 from their 20 overs.

Rumman Raees was the pick of the bowlers, finishing with a three wickets for just 11 runs, with Sameen Gul and Ali Anwar both taking two wickets each.

In his third stint with the Scorpions, Leverock has again agonisingly missed out on reaching a final. He was also knocked out of the semi-finals of the US Open Cricket T20 tournament playing alongside compatriot Delray Rawlins.
