HSBC to continue as lead Cup Match sponsor
HSBC Bermuda are back as the main sponsors of Cup Match.
Neil Paynter, president of St George’s Cricket Club, which is hosting this year’s Annual Classic on August 3 and 4, is delighted to have the bank on board.
“As the host of this year’s Cup Match event, we are particularly pleased to be continuing our partnership with HSBC,’’ Paynter said.
“Our relationship with HSBC has spanned over several years and we are extremely grateful for all that the bank’s sponsorship enables us to provide to the local community.
“On behalf of the St George’s Cricket Club, I extend our sincere thanks to the bank for once again sponsoring us. While we focus our energies on bringing the Cup back ‘home’, the club wish you and your loved ones a very happy Cup Match holiday.“
Steve Banner, HSBC chief executive officer, expressed his delight at the bank’s association with what is the biggest sporting events on the island.
“HSBC Bermuda is extremely pleased to once again be the lead sponsor of this exciting, two-day sporting highlight of the year,’’ Banner said.
“This year we look forward to partnering with St. George’s Cricket Club as they host Cup Match and celebrating with our colleagues, customers and the wider community, both in the weeks prior to the event and during the game.”
Head of wealth and personal banking at HSBC, Tanya Bule, said: “Cup Match fever is alive and well at HSBC as our employees prepare for a number of exciting community focused, Cup Match-related activities.
“This is a great time of year where we not only can acknowledge important dates in our island’s history but also get the opportunity to spend quality time with friends and family, either at the game or however else we choose. On behalf of HSBC Bermuda, we wish everyone a great and safe Cup Match, and may the best team win.“
HSBC's association with the event dates back to 2006, with their sponsorship covering costs associated with hosting the encounter. The bank plays a huge role in marketing the match by rolling out a motorcade from St George’s and Somerset into Hamilton, distributing flags to both sets of fans.
