Jermal Proctor and Luke Horan guide Bermuda to victory over Argentina
Jermal Proctor and Luke Horan helped guide Bermuda to a comfortable win over Argentina in the ICC Under-19 Men's Cricket World Cup Americas Qualifier, in Canada, on Saturday.
Player of the match Proctor, scorer of a brilliant 90 in a seven-wicket loss to the United States on Friday, compiled an unbeaten 37 runs off 25 balls, as Bermuda reached 54 for one in 6.3 overs to pick up their first win of the campaign.
Horan had earlier picked up three wickets for 13 runs in six overs after Argentina were sent in to bat and could only muster a total 53 in 22.4 overs.
In a rain-affected match, reduced from 50 to 45 overs, Argentina struggled with the bat, with their captain and opening batter Lucas Rossi the top scorer with 22 runs.
Besides Horan, Dionte Dowling picked up two wickets as well as one apiece for Proctor and Luke Fulton.
In their run chase, Bermuda lost skipper Zakao Hart for a first-ball duck at the start of their innings. That proved to be the only setback, as Proctor and Keegan Jones (11 not out) saw the team over the line with ease.
A tough encounter awaits the Arnold Manders’s side when they face Canada on Monday. Canada followed up an emphatic 363-run victory over Argentina with a two-wicket win over the US on Saturday, to remain the only team yet to taste defeat.
