Dion Stovell, who scored a century in Cup Match this year, is the star name on show as the Eastern Counties clash with the Western Counties in an All-Star match at White Hill Field on Saturday.

The 39-year-old Somerset batter has been named in the Eastern Counties side as a gap in the schedule created by the withdrawal of PHC from domestic cricket allows for a fixture arranged for the purposes of fostering good relations between the two counties.

Teresa Burrows, president of Western Counties, is keen for the match to be an exciting occasion and potentially lead to the return of Champion of Champions.

“We arranged this game because PHC pulled out and we had an extra day,’’ Burrows said.

“We thought why not make it a fun day and invite the Eastern County up and we just have a great day showcasing these young guys and their talent. It’s more of a fun day, bringing both counties together as one.

“This is not Eastern Counties coming to Western Counties, this is Western Counties inviting Eastern Counties to play this All-Star match. We want to show good sportsmanship and camaraderie between the counties, and hopefully we could get the Central Counties involved as well.

“Once Central Counties get back up on their feet, we hope we can do this together, including Champion of Champions and bringing that to life.”

Some of the brightest young talents in the country will take part in the match, including Bailey’s Bay duo Jarryd Richardson and Sharye Tavares as well as George O'Brien, of St David’s.

Most of the players that have been selected were part of the Bermuda squad for the ICC Under-19 Men's Cricket World Cup Americas Qualifier in Canada this month, including Cadence Douglas, Luke Horan, Zeri Tomlinson, Omari DeShields, Zakao Hart, Isaiah OBrien and Sa-Qui Robinson.

Shane Hollis, Herbie Bascome and Curtis Jackson are in charge of the Western Counties, while Roderick Masters, Courtney Trott and Terry Paynter are in charge of the Eastern Counties.
