Cricket cancelled again but football fans in clover
The impact of Tropical Storm Idalia is still impacting the sport with all domestic cricket cancelled for the second day running.
A full set of fixtures was due to take place in the Athene T20 Premier and First Division on Sunday but the weather has hampered the chances of Bailey’s Bay and Somerset closing the gap on leader’s St George’s after their match at Sea Breeze Oval was one of the casualties.
St George’s would have expected to take maximum points from their match against St David’s at North Field, National Sports Centre, but that wicket may have been protected with the Bermuda Premier League set to start on Wednesday,
Somerset Cricket Club was due to host the Premier Division game between Willow Cuts and Western Stars but that was cancelled with some members of the player control team already on site.
With the cancellation of this weekend’s cricket, the return of football comes at an opportune time with PHC set to take on North Village in the Charity Cup at Devonshire Rec at 8pm on Sunday.
Group play in the Dudley Eve Trophy starts on Monday, with Hamilton Parish taking on Devonshire Cougars and St George’s facing Dandy Town. Matches kick off at 3pm and 5pm respectively at Bernard Park.
