White Hill Field (Panama won the toss): Cayman Islands beat Panama by 7 wickets

Cayman Islands got their campaign at the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Americas Regional Qualifier off to a fine start with an easy win over Panama.

Panama offered little resistance with the bat after they won the toss and chose to make first use of the wicket. Opener Mahmud Jasat top scored with 17 but the rest of the batters struggled as the side were kept to a below par-85 for eight in 20 overs.

In response, Cayman lost only three wickets on their way to a victory achieved with 33 balls to spare.

Leg spinner Alessandro Morris produced a man-of-the-match display when he picked up three wickets for 14 runs in four overs, with his miserly spell ensuring that Cayman did not have much to chase.

Cayman opening batsman Patrick Heron rode his luck, as he was twice dropped to finish with an unbeaten 31, with Brian Corbin hammering a six to finish things off.

Panama face the wounded Canada on day two of the tournament, while Cayman face a stiff test against first-day winners Bermuda.
