Kamau Leverock retires from international cricket
Kamau Leverock has announced his retirement from international cricket.
The all-rounder, 29, who has been one of Bermuda’s best players for more than a decade, announced his decision after the national side were beaten by Bahrain in the final game of the ICC Cricket World Cup Challenge League Play-off in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Leverock, who did not feature against Bahrain, released a statement on X thanking those who had supported him during his international career.
“To the fans, supporters and fellow team-mates, it is with mixed emotions that I announce my retirement from playing international cricket from the Bermuda men’s national team,” Leverock said.
“After much consideration and reflection, I feel it is the right time for me to step away from representing my country on the cricket field.
“I am grateful for the incredible experiences, memories and friendships that I have made throughout my career. Representing Bermuda has been an honour and a privilege, and I am proud of all we achieved together.
“I want to thank my coaches, team-mates, friends, family and all the fans who have supported me over the years. Your encouragement and belief in me have meant the world and I will always cherish the time I spent wearing the Bermuda colours.
While this chapter may be closing, I am excited for the new challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. I will always be a proud Bermudian and passionate supporter of our national team.
“Thank you once again for your support, and I look forward to continuing to cheer on the fellas from the sideline.”
