The Bermuda Cricket Board has announced a continuation of its partnership with Athene Life Re, which will see the reinsurance company preserve its status as the lead sponsor for the T20 Men's Premier Division and First Division competitions.

Athene Life Re chief executive Natasha Scotland Courcy stated that her organisation was pleased to remain as the main sponsor of the fast-paced domestic cricket competition.

“We’re thrilled to announce our continued partnership with the Bermuda Cricket Board as the title sponsor for the Athene T20 Men’s Cricket League,” Scotland Courcy said.

“This league, which we're proud to support for the third year in a row, fosters camaraderie, inspires young talent and unites fans across the island.

“Together we look forward to celebrating cricket, community and the culture of Bermuda."

Steven Douglas, the BCB cricket committee chairman, expressed his appreciation to Athene for its ongoing support.

“The BCB offers a big thank-you to Athene Life Re for its continued contribution to the Athene T20 league on behalf of the BCB member clubs”, he said.

“We look forward to an action-packed 2024 Athene T20 League season. I look forward to the increased excitement and level of competitiveness during the semi-finals and finals weekend.”

In the third year of the partnership, this year’s format will be based on a single round-robin, followed by a semi-final and final round to decide champions in both divisions.

According to the BCB, the new format is geared towards the intense and exciting global T20 formats, including preparing for the start of the International Cricket Council 2026 Men's T20 World Cup qualification process, which begins in December.

St George’s have won the T20 Premier Division the past three seasons, with Clay Smith’s side looking to make it four on the spin.
