Unbeaten 99 caps fine weekend for Derrick Brangman
It was a successful weekend for St David’s captain Derrick Brangman, who struck an unconquered 99 runs and picked up two wickets to power his side to an 80-run victory over PHC in the Athene T20 First Division on Sunday.
Brangman, who opened the batting with Marcus Scotland, tore apart the PHC bowling as he struck 13 fours and four sixes. Scotland’s contribution of 40 and Ricardo Brangman’s 30 saw St David’s post 213 for two in 20 overs.
In response, PHC could manage only 133 for seven in their full quota of overs. Jaloni Albouy top scored with 57 and captain David Dill chipped in with 37.
Brangman and Enrique Minks were the pick of the St David’s bowlers with two wickets apiece.
St David’s and Flatts remain the only sides with a 100 per cent winning record in the First Division.
Flatts defeated Somerset Bridge by seven wickets. Bridge posted 130 for six in 20 overs, Jason Smith with the top score of 39.
The Flatts opening pair of Jan-Johan Nel and Keegan Jones laid the foundation for the win with 57 and 55 respectively, putting on an an opening stand of 117, which was broken when only 14 runs were required.
Willow Cuts suffered their first defeat of the season when Devonshire Rec toppled them by six wickets.
On a day when Charles Trott fell for a two-ball duck, Drewonde Bascombe was the highest scorer with 31 in his first match for Cuts, as they were bowled out for 114.
Freeman Lema struck 45 and Ankoma Cannonier, his opening partner, provided 26 to the Rec’s winning cause.
