Bermuda looking to shake things up against Mexico

Team spirit: Bermuda compete in T20 World Cup qualifiers in Argentina

Bermuda’s international cricketers are looking to sustain their impressive form as they return from a day off in Argentina.

The national team began their ICC T20 World Cup Americas Sub-Regional Qualifier campaign with commanding victories over Surinam and Panama, after their opening match against the host nation was abandoned.

As they approach the halfway stage of the competition, Bermuda sit proudly atop the nine-team league with five points from their first three games. They are in pole position to progress to the next stage of the qualifying process for the 2026 World Cup in India.

The top three teams will advance in the competition, and Bermuda will aim to solidify their chances with a victory against Mexico today. The match is scheduled to begin at 1.30pm Bermuda time at the Hurlingham Club in Buenos Aires.

The game could provide an ideal opportunity for fringe players Jarryd Richardson, Chare Smith and Alex Dore to gain their first taste of action, with captain Terryn Fray hinting after the win against Panama that changes might be on the cards.

“We’re in a unique position where we can experiment with a few things,” Fray said. “We have quality players all the way through and maybe the next match presents an opportunity for a few of the guys who haven’t gotten a chance to play so far.”

Mexico have played just two matches in the competition so far, losing by five wickets to Belize in their opening game before bouncing back with a 45-run victory over Brazil.
