Warwick Workmen’s Club and Warwick Academy join cricketing forces
Warwick Academy and Warwick Workmen’s Club have formally amalgamated their youth cricket structures to form the Warwick Cricket Academy in the run-up to the 2025 cricket season.
Lorenzo Tucker, president of the Warwick Workmen’s Club, described the decision as a “natural move”.
“The two organisations have been working closely to support the growth of youth cricket in the Warwick area and believe that this is a natural move to leverage each other’s strengths,” Tucker said.
Warwick Workmen’s Club has a reputation for developing young cricketers, such as former Bermuda captain Delray Rawlins, while Warwick Academy has created a youth developmental pathway since joining the Bermuda Cricket Board cricket leagues nine years ago, .
David Horan, principal of Warwick Academy, is delighted that the two organisations have strengthened their ties.
“The Warwick Cricket Academy will cater to young cricketers from the PeeWee age (5-year-olds) up to under 16, with those graduating out of the youth programme moving into the senior Warwick Workman’s squad,” Horan said
“The school and club have been located opposite each other for 101 years, and bringing them together in this way will continue to have the knock-on effect of strengthening relationships within the Warwick community.”
Parents of interested young cricketers should contact Richard Todd, the Academy’s technical director, at rtodd@warwick.bm, to find out more information.
