Young cricketers ready for play in President’s Cup
Some of Bermuda’s most talented young cricketers will begin play in the President’s Youth National Cup on Valentine’s Day.
The talented Under-15 school select team, chosen by the Bermuda Cricket Board, will play four 40-over matches in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, with games being played from February 14 to February 17.
The squad will be overseen by head Coach Courtney Trott and assistant coaches Davon Govia and Lorin Tannock. The team will be completed with three additional players from the United States.
Cal Blankendal, BCB executive director, is delighted that the squad has made the journey largely as a result of a partnership with the Department of Sports and Recreation.
“The BCB extends our sincerest appreciation to the parents, coaches, players and participating schools,” Blankendal said.
“This tour is possible through a partnership with the Department of Sport & Recreation and the Bermuda Cricket Board to encourage the playing of cricket in our schools and community clubs.
“Our collective objective is to make this tour an annual event in the youth & school cricketing calendar. The under-15 age group is an important component to the future of our under-19 national team and domestic cricket leagues.”
