Prison for hotel drug party

A 23-year-old was yesterday imprisoned for holding a “drug party” at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess last year.Temiko Wilson will spend six months in prison for six charges related to the Good Friday drugs bust, including possessing cannabis and cocaine with intent to supply.The court heard that members of the Police Support Unit carried out a raid on a room at the Pitts Bay Road hotel around 8.25pm on April 2.Officers found six individuals and a thick cloud of cannabis smoke inside. A search revealed around four grams of cannabis and 1.69g of cocaine freebase, commonly known as crack.In a police interview, Wilson said he found the drugs earlier that day on Victor Scott Field while flying kites and brought them with him to the hotel room.“I have a job,” he said. “I have no reason to sell drugs, and I was not brought up that way.”However, yesterday Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo said: “You don’t have to sell drugs to supply it. This was, in fact, you hosting a drug party. This was a drug party that had young people present.”The court previously heard that Jahfari Raynor, 18, and Malcolm Augustus, 18, were in the room at the time of the drug bust. Both were charged with possession of cannabis but found not guilty.Sixteen-year-old Sadune Raynor was also in the room and initially charged with possessing cannabis, charges were later dismissed.Jahfari and Sadune’s 38-year-old mother, Erica Raynor, was also in the room at the time of the raid. She was found guilty of two counts of permitting a room to be used for the misuse of drugs.
