Police warning on bogus emails

Police are warning residents to ignore a bogus email circulating locally which claims to be from a British financial firm.The message contains a phony advert for a “broker in Bermuda” and offers a salary of $10,000 a month.Bermuda Police Service’s Financial Crime Unit said the email was “another online scam” and should be deleted.“The public is reminded to remain vigilant regarding any unsolicited correspondence,” said a spokesman.“Also, we urge those receiving similar e-mail messages from unknown individuals not to give out any personal information or banking details. If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.”The message reads:“Dear X,“A descent (sic) Financial Firm in UK is in search of a Broker in Bermuda.“JOB DESCRIPTION Receiving Money on our behalf, from our clients in the Bermuda and Sending it to us as will be instructed.“REQUIREMENT 1. Must be a resident in the Bermuda 2. Should not have any criminal record 3. Must have a valid ID.“REMUNERATION 1. 5% of every fund you receive on our behalf. 2.
