Denim Day for Centre Against Abuse
Workers are being asked to wear their jeans to work to help the Centre Against Abuse pocket some cash.The charity, which is more than 30 years old, hopes to raise up to $20,000 to help with their work with victims and abusers.They are calling on companies to take part in their third annual Denim Day this Friday. Employees will be able to wear their jeans to work in exchange for a donation of $5.All money raised will be spent on the charity’s awareness programmes and safe house for women and children.Executive director Laurie Shiell said: “Denim Day gives everyone a chance to get involved in helping to eradicate domestic abuse.“We also want people to know more about what we do so we will be sending all participating companies a brochure about our work.”Charity staff launched their Denim Day fundraiser at Government House yesterday with Deputy Governor David Arkley.Companies wanting to take part in the Centre Against Abuse’s Denim Day should call 292-4366 or e-mail info[AT]centreagainstabuse.bm
