Police mobile command vehicle to move around Island
The police mobile command vehicle will be moved to different locations around the Island to provide a visible police presence.Recently the vehicle, which is manned by Community Action Team (CAT) officers, has been located in the Middle Road/ Khyber Pass area in Warwick following several violent incidents in that area.However, in a statement yesterday a police spokeswoman said: “In the near future the police mobile command vehicle will be located in various areas throughout the Island to provide a visible police presence while also being accessible to area residents during its hours of operation.“The CAT officers are available at the mobile command vehicle to answer questions or respond to any concerns the public may have.”The hours of operation for the mobile command vehicle are 11am to 7pm.Warning after spate of burglariesPolice are again reminding the public to secure their homes after a number of burglaries were reported over the Remembrance Day weekend.A police spokeswoman said that most of the burglaries were committed in the Pembroke and Warwick areas, with cash and electronics taken.“The public is reminded to make sure all windows and doors are locked before leaving their homes unattended,” she said.“We also continue to recommend that all residents secure their valuables out of sight, record serial numbers of all items and take pictures of their possessions.“In particular, make note of electronic equipment and jewellery so that if they are stolen and later recovered, there is an accurate way of identifying them.“The public is also reminded that receiving stolen property is an offence punishable under the law.”To report suspicious activity in your neighbourhood, contact the police at 295-0011.
