Teen arrested after high speed chase

A Devonshire teenager was arrested yesterday morning following a high-speed chase in Paget.According to a Police Spokesman, at around 12.20am officers saw two men travelling at a high speed on Ord Road.The spokesman said: “As a result, officers attempted to stop the motorcycle and a chase ensued.“During the pursuit, the motorcycle fell to the ground and the rider and pillion passenger ran off. Officers conducted a search of the area and subsequently arrested the pillion passenger, an 18-year-old Devonshire man in connection with this incident.“He has been detained in police custody pending further inquiries.”Anyone with information regarding the rider of the motorcycle is asked to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.Arboretum scramblers arrestedAn 18-year-old was arrested on Monday after police received a report of two motocross riders riding through the Arboretum.A Police Spokesman said that at around 1.30pm on Monday, officers responded to a report of motorcycles being ridden at the Devonshire park.“When officers attempted to stop the vehicles, one motocross cycle escaped onto Montpelier Road, while the other rode into an officer, causing injury,” the spokesman said. “As a result, an 18 year old Pembroke man was arrested and detained pending further inquiries.“The injured officer was treated at KEMH and later released.”The arrested teenager is expected to appear in court to face charges in the near future, but police are still seeking additional information about the incident.They are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information regarding the second motocross cycle rider to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295-0011.
