Shooting victim still being treated overseas

A 24-year-old shot outside the Gravity Nightclub last month remains overseas receiving specialised treatment for his injuries.Issuing an update regarding two recent shootings, a Police spokesman said that forensic evidence regarding the December 17 shooting has been sent overseas, and detectives are working with key witnesses to move the case forward.And regarding the December 21 shooting of a 38-year-old Southampton man outside his home, the spokesman said police have arrested two men, who have since been released on police bail.The spokesman said: “The two shootings are not believed to be linked; however members of the public with information about either incident are again urged to come forward and assist in bringing these offenders to justice.”The first of the incidents took place between 3.15am and 3.25am, with the young victim reportedly being shot in his back, shoulder and arms. He was airlifted off the Island soon after for treatment of his injuries.The second incident took place days later, with Police receiving a report of a shooting on East Avenue at around 7.05pm. Police believe the suspect made good his escape on foot.Police are appealing for anyone with information about either shooting to contact either the Police or Crime Stoppers.“Any information passed to the Serious Crime Unit on 247-1079 will be dealt with discreetly and in confidence. In addition, anyone with information about these incidents is encouraged to contact the independent and confidential Crime Stoppers hotline on 800-8477,” the spokesman said.
