Police make three arrests of motorists over the weekend
Three men were arrested on suspicion of drunk-driving over the weekend, after two crashes and one incident of erratic driving.In the first accident, a car smashed into a wall on North Shore Road, Pembroke, near its junction with Langton Hill, at 3.15am on Saturday.A 45-year-old Devonshire man was arrested at the scene and later failed an alco-analyser test. There were no reported injuries, but the car was damaged and had to be towed away.In the second incident, a car crashed into a wall on South Road, Devonshire, near its junction with Brimstone Hill, at 5.45am on Sunday. The car and wall were damaged but nobody was injured.A 41-year-old Smith’s man also failed the alco-analyser test and was detained in custody.Then at 1.15am on Monday, police stopped a car which was being driven erratically on Middle Road, Paget, near its junction with Dudley Hill.The driver, a 31-year-old Pembroke man, was detained after failing an alco-analyser test.Police say court appearances are anticipated on all three matters.In other police news, 18 people were arrested for outstanding warrants over the weekend, while officers also conducted liquor license checks across the Island.
