Impaired driving suspects arrested

Two men were arrested on suspicion of impaired driving on Thursday night and Friday morning.At around 11.20pm, police responded to a report of a collision in the Khyber Pass area in Warwick. A police spokesman said: “It appears that a van was travelling along Khyber Heights Road when it collided with a parked car. There were no reported injuries.”The driver of the van, a 34-year-old Devonshire man, was subsequently arrested on suspicion of driving while impaired and detained by police.Just over an hour later, officers responded to a single vehicle crash reported on Front Street in Hamilton.The spokesman said that it appeared a motorcycle was travelling along Front Street when the rider lost control and struck the sidewalk near Fagan’s Alley.“On arrival, officers found the rider, a 36-year-old Warwick man nearby,” the spokesman said. “He was conveyed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance and treated for relatively minor injuries.“He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving.”Both men are expected to appear in Magistrates’ Court in due course.
