Police make six arrests for suspected impaired driving

Six suspected drunk-drivers were arrested over the weekend.They included a car driver pulled over in Sandys around 2am on Sunday by officers on mobile patrol.According to a police spokeswoman, the driver was travelling erratically along Pender Road.“Officers pursued the vehicle and caused it to stop along Malabar Road near the junction with Heydon Road.“They approached the driver, a 28-year-old Sandys man, who appeared to be intoxicated,” she said.“He was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. He later failed the alco-analyser test and was detained in police custody as a result. A court appearance is anticipated in due course.”Two hours later, another car driver was pulled over on Middle Road in Devonshire, also due to driving erratically.“Officers pursued the vehicle and stopped it on Middle Road near the junction with Corkscrew Hill.“They approached the driver, a 30-year-old Smith’s man, who appeared to be intoxicated. He was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and detained in police custody as a result.”A court appearance is also due in that case.
