Shooting victim still in hospital

The 51-year-old Devonshire man who sustained multiple gunshot wounds on Tuesday, remains listed in stable condition at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.Meanwhile a full-scale investigation has been launched by police as the appeal for public assistance continues.The incident occurred outside a private home on Rambling Lane, in Pembroke, around 10.23pm on May 22.The initial investigation turned up reports of a suspect described as being six feet tall with a slim build, who was seen fleeing from the area shortly after the shooting.A dark-coloured motorcycle was also seen speeding away from the scene of the crime around the same time.Shortly after the shooting a police spokesman said the victim’s injuries were not believed to be life threatening.Reports reaching this newspaper indicate that he was shot two or three times in the upper chest near the shoulder area.A hospital spokeswoman would only release his condition, but would not say whether he was being detained on a general ward.Police are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen any suspicious activity in the Rambling Lane area of Pembroke around the time of the shooting to come forward.That includes anyone with information whether they believe it to be important or not, to contact the Serious Crime Unit.The number to call is 247-1185, or the independent, confidential Crime Stoppers hotline on 800-8477.
