Shots were fired in Sandys over the weekend in the latest recorded firearms incident, but there have been no reported injuries.A Police Spokesman said yesterday that at around 1.30am on Saturday officers responded to reports of gunfire in the Greenfield Lane/Long Bay Lane area.“Forensic evidence found at the scene confirmed that a firearm was discharged in that area, however there were no reported injuries,” the spokesman said.“The area was secured and an active investigation has commenced into this confirmed firearm incident.”The incident was the second in the parish in the last week. At around 12.15am on Thursday officers received a report of gunshots in the area of Somerset Road and Ledgelets Lane.Evidence confirmed that shots were fired, but there were no reported injuries.Officers are appealing for the public’s assistance in investigating the incidents.Anyone who may have seen or heard persons acting suspiciously in the area around the time of the incidents is asked to contact the police at 295-0011, or the confidential Crime Stoppers hotline at 800-8477.
