Jamaican broadcaster reports Bermudians arrested with cannabis
A pair of Bermudians have reportedly been arrested in Jamaica in connection to the seizure of 200lbs of cannabis.
Jamaican news outlet RJR News reported that the Bermudians were arrested by members of the Area 3 Transnational Crime and Narcotics Division on Sunday in the Elim area of St Elizabeth.
The men were in a vehicle when approached by officers, who discovered $7,000 US and $20,000 Jamaican ($1,891 US) in their possession.
The report stated: “A further search was conducted in nearby bushes where the police allegedly found 200lbs of cured compressed ganja which was prepared for export.”
The men, who were not identified in the report, were subsequently taken into custody.
A Bermuda Police Service spokesman said yesterday that they are aware of the incident and are working with Jamaican authorities.
